1. Information We Collect
Account information. We use Google Sign-In to
authenticate you. We receive basic profile information from
Google (your email address and account ID) to create and manage
your account. We do not display your name, email, or Google
profile photo anywhere on Design Diaries, your entries and
activity are anonymous to other users.
Content you create. This includes diary
entries, prompts you've answered, tags and topics you've
selected, notebooks you've created, and reactions you've given
to other entries.
Usage information. We may collect information
about how you use the app, such as pages visited, features
used, and general analytics data (see Section 5).
Device and technical information. We may
automatically collect standard technical information such as
browser type, device type, and IP address for security and
troubleshooting purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Let you post, edit, and delete diary entries
- Show your entries anonymously to other users on the public feed
- Let you organize saved entries into personal notebooks
- Enforce posting limits and content guidelines (see our Terms of Service)
- Investigate reports of content that violates our guidelines
- Improve the product and understand how it's used
- Communicate with you about your account, if necessary
3. Anonymity — What This Means in Practice
Design Diaries is built around anonymity. Here's specifically
what that means:
-
Your name, email, and any other identifying information from
your Google account are never shown to other
users.
-
Entries you post to the public feed are visible to other
users, but not attributed to you by name.
-
We can still associate entries with your account internally
(for example, so you can edit or delete your own entries, or
so we can investigate a report), but this connection is not
exposed to other users.
-
If you report another user's entry, or another user reports
yours, we may need to review account-level information as
part of that investigation, but this is handled internally,
not shared with the other party.
4. How Long We Keep Your Content
-
Entries you post are visible on the public feed for a limited
window (currently 7 days), after which they move into your
own private Diary and are no longer visible to other users.
-
You can delete any entry, at any time, permanently. Once
deleted, it cannot be recovered.
-
If you delete your account, we will delete your associated
content in accordance with applicable law, except where we're
required to retain certain records (e.g., for legal or safety
investigations already in progress).
5. Analytics and Cookies
We may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to
understand aggregate usage patterns, like which pages are
visited and how features are used. This data is generally
anonymized or pseudonymized and is not used to identify you
individually to other users.
We use essential cookies/local storage required for
authentication and basic app functionality (for example,
remembering your sound settings).
Update this section based on your actual analytics/cookie
setup once implemented.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share
information:
-
With service providers who help us operate the app (e.g., our
hosting and database provider, authentication provider)
- If required by law, or to protect the safety of our users
-
In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets,
subject to standard confidentiality protections

Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's federal
Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
(PIPEDA), or foreign laws such as the GDPR or CCPA if they
